Does your university accept CLEP?

Does my college or school accept CLEP?

Not all schools accept CLEP credits, and the ones that do don’t apply them the same way. (For example, if you pass the Algebra CLEP, one school may apply it as a Math 101 class, while another school will only credit you for an elective.

The College Board website has a list of participating schools and what exams they accept, but I’ve found that these lists are often outdated or incomplete.

Your university may have a list online of accepted CLEP exams, but again, these lists are not always kept current.

For SNHU students, this list is currently found here. At the time of this posting, it’s not entirely accurate.

If you’re already enrolled in a school or intend on enrolling, it’s critical to speak to your advisor or registrar about the CLEPs you wish to take. You want to ensure that they’ll  actually be applied toward your degree program before you waste your time.

Where can you take a CLEP exam?

FInd a CLEP testing center nearby

CLEP exams are performed at more than 2,000 testing centers across the nation. Many of these take place on college campuses, some are independent facilities. You can visit the College Board website to search for testing centers near you. Regardless of what school you attend, you can take your exams at almost any testing center.

You can only take CLEP exams in-person, using the computers at the testing center. You cannot take CLEP exams online.
